Disclosure
Affiliate disclosure
Ember & Amp may earn a commission if you buy through links on this site, at no extra cost to you.
What that means
When a guide links to a retailer or a manufacturer, that link may be an affiliate link. If you buy through it, we may earn a commission. The price you pay is not raised to cover that commission.
How this affects a guide
A commission does not decide the verdict. If the cheaper option does the job, the guide will say so. If we have not tested a product, we will not write as if we have. Compensation is not a reason to leave a flaw out, and it is not a reason to recommend the more expensive product.
Where you will see it
Every guide includes this sentence near the top: “Ember & Amp may earn a commission if you buy through links on this page, at no extra cost to you.” The same notice appears in the footer of every page. Links that can earn a commission use rel="sponsored".
The sample article
The only guide published at launch is a sample. Its product names, prices, verdicts, and links are placeholders. They are not recommendations. The links go to example.com, which is not a retailer, and they are not affiliate links. The disclosure still appears on that page because the layout adds it to every article.
Which programs
This starter site is not enrolled in an affiliate program and does not use real affiliate links. Before a real affiliate link is published, the owner needs to name each program here. Examples the owner might add later include a retailer associates program. Do not leave this section as a guess.
- Owner: list each affiliate network or retailer program before publishing a real affiliate link.
- Owner: if a program requires specific wording, add that wording here and keep the short disclosure on each guide.
